Heather Brooke Morgan Dethloff of Hainesville, Illinois passed away on September 15, 2020 at the age of 40 at her home surrounded by family. She is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Brad Dethloff and many family, friends and colleagues.
Heather worked for 4 years at CHEST, first in education coordination and then evolving into the CHEST Accreditation Manager. She facilitated ACCME Accreditation with Commendation in 2017, and while she was fighting cancer, she helped CHEST achieve Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSIH) reaccreditation in 2018. She was an active member within the CME professional environment serving as a Board Member on the Illinois Alliance for CME and as a presenter at many CME conferences over the years.
Heather was a doting mother to her comforting fur babies, Leo and Lucky. She graduated in undergraduate and masters degrees of youth ministry and religion at Olivet Nazarene University and was ABD (all but dissertation) in the PHD program at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary studying Systematic Theology/Feminist Theory. Everyone who knew Heather knew that her primary passion was stand-up comedy and making people laugh, performing at several bars and comedy clubs throughout the Chicagoland area as well as in the CHEST office bringing her co-workers many smiles. She was very opinionated, as well loving, forgiving, and compassionate. Heather is sorely missed by her CHEST family.
